We don’t hate paid links, says Google’s SEO Strategist

Google’s SEO Strategist has confirmed what Matt Cutts said in an earlier post about paid links - Google doesn’t hate it.

The interview with Adam Lasnik clearly shows Google are against paid links that exist for the main purpose of juicing up PageRank.

From the article, “… our goal is not to catch one hundred percent of paid links. It’s to try to address the egregious behavior of buying and selling the links that focus on the passing of PageRank. That type of behavior is a lot more readily identifiable then I think people give us credit for.”

That’s why the rel=”nofollow” attribute is so important. WP Text Ads version 1.1 will have this option turned on by default.
